Do I need a subscription?+
No. $5 buys 30 minutes as a one-time purchase — no plan, no card kept on file. Most people start there, and some never need anything else.
What counts as a "minute"?+
One call minute = one minute with both people connected, metered like a phone call. The clock starts when the second person joins and stops the moment one of you leaves — so waiting in a room for someone who never turns up costs you nothing.
Do my minutes expire?+
Purchased minutes don't expire — they sit on your account until you use them. Plan minutes reset each billing period, which is the one difference between the two.
When is a plan worth it over buying packs?+
Pro is 12.5¢/min, cheaper per minute than every pack, so it pays for itself at roughly 100 minutes a month — measured against our best pack rate, so the real crossover is lower if you'd otherwise buy small packs. Below that, packs are the better deal and we'd rather you bought those.
What happens when I run out mid-call?+
Translation pauses and you get a notice — the call doesn't drop. You can buy minutes from inside the call without leaving it, and translation picks back up where it was.
Can I get a refund if it doesn't work for me?+
Yes. Pro subscribers can request a prorated refund within 7 days of their most recent charge, covering unused plan minutes — if you used 20 of 120 Pro minutes, you'd receive about $12.49 back. Submit it from your Billing page. One-time minute packs are non-refundable, which is part of why the smallest one is $5.
Is annual billing available?+
Yes — $149/year for Pro, which is two months free. Choose monthly or annual at checkout, and you can switch later from your Billing page.
Do you have team plans?+
Yes, with pooled minutes, seats and a team dashboard, but we quote them per team rather than listing a tier. Email info@tellacross.com and tell us roughly how many people and how many calls.
Do you offer regional pricing (India, Southeast Asia)?+
Yes — we price for local purchasing power in India and Southeast Asia. Look for local pricing when you sign up from those regions, or email us.
Discounts for NGOs or education?+
